Do we really need Japan Medical Association as it is?

Topic 2: Do we really need Japan Medical Association as it is?

We must be grateful to medical doctors for their great efforts during the pandemic. That's for sure. However, it's also true that Japan Medical Association (JMA) has a very bad reputation these days. Is JMA really responsible for the mess we are facing? Or has it been falsely accused of the situation? Anyway, I would like us to discuss this peculiar association. Let's just focus on JMA this time, although there may be so many issues about our healthcare system.

Q1: What is JMA for? What benefits do medical doctors enjoy from it? Is there anything beneficial for patients or the government?

Q2: Is JMA responsible for the chaos surrounding COVID, including the shortage of hospital beds? Or do you think that many COVID patients have been saved because of JMA?

Q3: What other problems do you see regarding JMA?

Q4: Do we really need JMA as it is? If not, is there anything we can do to change the situation?
