いつもの大阪駅前第ニビルの会議室で、恒例の18時開始の通常例会。
今回の参加者は初参加の方１名＋リピーター13名で、久々の二桁でした！！
参加者のボリュームゾーンは30～40代ですが、高校生から定年退職後の方まで幅広く集まってお話ができて、とっても有意義でした♪


さて、今回のトピックはこちら。
Topic 1: What are your favorite movies?
1. Have you recently seen any movies?
Which ones have you seen, and what did you　think about them?

2. What are some of your most memorable movies?
Do you have any recommendations in particular?

3. Do you often go to the theatre to watch movies?
What are some appealing aspects that theatres can offer over DVD/blu-rays?
If you prefer disks over theatres, what are your reasons?

4. The past ten years have seen the addition of new features at theatres,including 3-D,and more recently, motion seats that move in sync with the action in the film.
What may be the next generation of additions?
Can you think of any that you would like to be implemented?

Topic 2: How should our government approach AI?

1. Before getting to the crux of the matter, I would like to discuss some uses of AI.
What are some areas where AI is being used at the moment,and how do you think its use will be expanded in the near future?

2. People are worried that AI will drive people out of their jobs.
They have reason to fret;
the World Economy Forum has recently predictedthat roughly 5 million jobs will be lost to robots by the year 2020.
Which jobs do you think are most subject to such displacement?
Which jobs (besides related to AI) do you think will continue to flourish?
What kinds of new jobs will be created by AI?

3. The past few decades have seen the increase in inequality between the rich and the poor.
Do you think that AI will further contribute to this divide?
Do you think that this is inevitable?

4. The rise of AI has become known as the ‘fourth industrial revolution.’How can our government respond to impending changesthat are expected through the development of AI?
(i.e. If job loss will occur, how can our government create new jobs?
If non-action will result in further inequality, how can our government shift the trend?)

前半は3-4名ずつ4つのグループに分かれ、トピック１についておしゃべり。
やっぱり映画はDVDで観る方が多いみたいですね。
なんとなく、一人暮らしか否かでWOWWOW等の有料チャンネルの加入率が違うような気がします。

短い休憩の後は、3人掛けの長机５つを五角形に並べて14人全員でトピック2についてディスカッション。

昨年7月にもトピックとして選ばれた（2015年7月25日英語例会）AIと、仕事。10カ月の時を経て、再度トピックに選ばれました。

AIの発展により無くなる（AIに取って替わられる）仕事／職業もあるでしょうし、新たに発生する仕事／職業もあることでしょうけど、やはり対人的な、人間の「心」「精神」に関わるような仕事はAIがやるのは難しい…のかしら？？

常連の参加者の方がアマゾンの「エコー（Echo）」（音声アシスタント機能を備えた据え置き型スピーカー）を購入して使っていて、すごく便利！！と話していたのが印象的でした。
読んだり聞いたり見たりして「へぇ～」と思うのと、使ってみるのとは相当違うんでしょうね。

社会の中の「平等」「公平」への言及があるところが、お昼間会っぽい（？）感じです。
AIの発展に合わせて、税制を含めた社会システムを変更していく必要もあろうし実際に変更して行かざるを得ないのでしょう。

フージャーズのディスカッションは、単に「英語で話す」だけでなく、テーブルを囲んだ参加者全員で、よりよい理解や結論にたどり着く為に議論を深めていきたいと考えています。
