Let’s Be Realistic!

Topic 2Let’s Be Realistic!

How are realists like? Are they Cynic? They think we were born evil? A Dutch historian/realist Rutger Bregman claims that we are basically born kind and altruistic, from thousands of historical events. This young thinker is a real hot stuff and may change the world. At least, he made a drastic change on me feeling that the future can be rosy.

1Basics;
We, egoistic human beings were born evil and that’s why we need laws.
If you think so, please watch the video below. A kid, a baby, even a dog shows altruism. Is this our nature?

2When was it?
If we were born altruistic and caring, what has happened to us? What is preventing us from being what we really are? Were there any significant occasions that have changed us?

3WWUD?

You live in a small village. There is a mountain and everyone has the right to go into the woods and harvest delicious mushrooms. One day, a big company found the mushrooms profitable. They hired many people and started harvesting mushrooms as much as possible.

The mushrooms are famous and expensive now.

If this continues, the mushrooms will drain and some weak village people cannot enjoy the mushrooms anymore. However, even though you don’t go into the mountain, someone else will go.

What would you do? There must be thousands of ways for the villagers to live happily ever after.
