Topic 2 Accepting more foreign workers.
An amendment to the immigration control law with the aim of accepting more
foreign workers is being discussed in the Diet. It is really challenging
for us, because we have very long history of a racially homogeneous nation
and the langues barrier is quite serious issue.
At present, no guide line has considered about the minimum level of Japanese
lnguage which foreign workers should have.
The law is considering to allow only the people of having a certain level
of expertise and skill to come in, in order to prevent from hiring the
none skilled people with the low wedge.
Agenda) What should we do to get along with the foreign workers?
1) What are the purpose and the benefit of the law?
2) What are the possible risks or problems of working with the foreign
workers?
