Topic Plea Bargain
How should we appreciate plea bargain to make our society better?

1. Have you ever heard a word “plea bargain” before? In old-fashioned U.S. detective dramas, we would often find this word, so it is widespread in the U.S. but not in other countries.

2. Do you know that the Japanese authorities have already adopted this system? If you did not, what is the reason the government implemented plea bargain in Japan?

3. Please discuss the pros and cons of this system. Does this system fit Japanese society?

4. The plea bargain was invented from the idea that finite resources of police or law enforcement should be used in the most effective way as well as limitation of the statute. Do you think this system does our society good or harm?
