Topic 2. Death penalty
The global trend is toward abolishing capital punishment. 106 countries
do not allow the use of the death penalty by law. 8 countries permit the
death penalty only for serious crimes in exceptional circumstances. 28
countries have death penalty laws but haven't executed anyone for at least
10 years. 56 countries retain death penalty laws and either carry out executions.
